CT Scan Aquilion™ PRIME Toshiba

Aquilion™ PRIME is the latest addition of the Aquilion family of CT scanners produced by Toshiba, incorporates cutting edge technologies that not only meet current clinical requirements, but can also serve as a new standard platform in the future. These new technologies make it possible to obtain high-quality clinical images with a low dose and also optimizing workflow.

To meet the needs of the growing and more diverse in patient population while satisfying the demands of a new healthcare model for better care at a lower cost. Toshiba Aquilion PRIME CT Scan machine has optimized every aspect of performance, design
a system in advanced technologies to reducing the total time of diagnosis and improving productivity with high-quality images for workflow efficiencies every step of the way.

In addition to supporting all routine examinations, the system comes with advanced clinical applications to meet a wide variety of clinical requirements.



CT Scan Aquilion™ PRIME Toshiba can be configured as a system that reconstructs 80 or 160 unique slices every rotation of the gantry, and the images are available almost immediately after acquisition. With Helical scanning, 0.5 mm x 80 detector row for rapid aquisition and reconstruction which ideal for trauma CT imaging. And 0.5 mm slice thickness with 350-micron isotropic spatial resolution displays anatomic details with uniform image quality.

The Aquilion™ PRIME's features in advanced dose reduction and image processing software, by implements an array of adaptive and integrated dose reduction strategies, these features ensure delivery of the best possible image quality at the lowest possible dose.


These strategies are implemented at every stage in the scanning process from patient registration through data acquisition, raw data and image reconstruction:
  • Patient Registration; The system prompts the user to select the appropriate protocol based on patient age, weight and exam type. Dose is displayed on the console prior to scanning for operator confirmation and validation.
  • Acquisition; with Integrated XYZ mA modulation, the scanogram-based to automatically reduce patient dose. Active Collimation limits helical over-ranging, reducing dose delivered to the patient on all helical scans. And Variable Helical Pitch** (vHP) changes the helical pitch automatically from an ECG gated to a non-ECG gated exam, saving dose, IV contrast and time.
  • Raw Data and Reconstruction; Quantum Denoising Software (QDS) reduces image noise to optimize image quality while lowering patient dose. Adaptive Iterative Dose Reduction (AIDR) adaptively targets image noise, this iterative process can be used to lower patient dose while maintaining spatial resolution and image texture. And Boost 3D™ that improves image quality and lowers dose by selectively reducing noise and streak artifacts from those areas where it is needed.
  • Active Collimation; By Helical scanning, exposure is needed before the start and after the end of the planned scan range. This over-ranging requires at least one extra rotation, although only a small portion of this data is utilized, in order to reconstruct images at these positions. And Active collimation synchronizes the width of the x-ray beam at the ends of the scan range to the clinically useful area needed for image reconstruction, By eliminating exposure that is not used for diagnosis, patient dose can be reduced.

  • SURECardio™ Prospective ; it delivers high-quality diagnostic studies for coronary CTA procedures while speeding up exam times and the same time its reducing radiation dose.



  • SURESubtraction™ ; it provides automated digital subtraction of the vessels from bone and specially developed for head and neck regions. It enhances diagnostic accuracy and improves workflow



  • SUREStart ; is a low dose technique that automatically monitors contrast uptake in the target region with an intermittent or continuous mode and also automatically triggers the scan at optimal enhancement.



  • Variable Helical Pitch* (vHP) ; vHP has the ability to automatically change an ECG gated to a non ECG gated acquisition, it will reduce IV contrast and radiation dose as well.



  • SUREFluoro™ ; its allows the real time monitoring by three contiguous CT slices for interventional procedures that improving accuracy while shortening the procedure time.



  • SUREExposure Pediatric™ ; its automatically optimizes tube current in order to acquire the highest quality clinical images with the lowest possible dose for pediatric studies and with iterative algorithm removes noise in the raw and image data space, by analyzing and the processing the data repeatedly.



  • SUREXtension™ ; provides access to Toshiba's powerful post processing applications from the personal computer, so the CT datasets can be viewed and analyzed at your computer anywhere on the network.
  • Body Perfusion* ; is a software that can analyzes the blood perfusion of an organ from dynamic scan images. These perfusion application can provide other additional information for the diagnosis, treatment and follow up of lesions.
  • Lung Volume Analysis* ; it will automatically identifies tissues in the lung fields with a CT number lower than the specified value (regions of pulmonary emphysema) for visualization and analysis.
  • Dual Energy* ; dual-energy helical scanning alternates between high and low kV with each gantry rotation. The mA is also automatically adjusted for the two different energies to ensure a matched signal to noise ration which increases the accuracy of dual energy* analysis. In addition, Aquilion PRIME automatically turns X-ray exposure off as the X-ray tube passes the front of the patient, thus minimizing exposure to radiosensitive organs such as the breasts and eye lens.
